Addressing Code of Conduct Violations

Our community is built on the principles of respect, inclusivity, and mutual support. We expect all members to uphold these values and treat each other with kindness and consideration. However, there may be instances where individuals violate our Code of Conduct guidelines, leading to conflicts or disruptions within the community. In such cases, it is essential to address these violations promptly and effectively to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members. There are also different guidelines for in-person events, which can be found here.

Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience behavior that violates our Code of Conduct, we encourage you to report it to the community moderators or administrators. Reporting violations helps us address the issue promptly and take appropriate action to ensure the well-being of our members. You can report violations through the following channels:

  • Direct Message: Contact a community moderator or administrator via direct message on Teamspeak.

Handling Violations

When a violation of the Code of Conduct is reported, the community moderators or administrators will investigate the matter and take appropriate action based on the severity of the violation. The following steps may be taken to address Code of Conduct violations:

  1. Warning: For minor violations or first-time offenses, a formal warning may be issued to the individual who violated the code of conduct, explaining the nature of the violation and the consequences of further infractions.

  2. Temporary Suspension: In cases of repeated violations or more severe offenses, a temporary suspension from community activities or services may be imposed. The duration of the suspension will be determined based on the severity of the violation and the individual's history of misconduct.

  3. Permanent Ban and/or Revoking Membership: For serious or repeated violations that pose a significant threat to the community's well-being or would create a bad image of our community, a permanent ban from the community may be enacted. This decision is made after careful consideration by the community moderators or administrators. In some cases, membership may also be revoked, resulting in the loss of access to community services and resources instantly.

  4. Appealing: Appeals will be reviewed by the community moderators, administrators or by the council (depending on the seriousness of the case), who will consider any additional information provided before making a final decision.

  5. Final Decision: The decision to issue a warning, suspension, ban, or revoke membership is final and will be communicated to the individual in question. The decision is made in the best interest of the community and aims to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all members. Final decision of Permanent Ban / Membership Revoking is always made by the council of the community. Warning and Temporary Suspension can be initialized by the administrators or moderators by themselves.

What is the council?

The council is made up of the community members, moderators and administrators. Every member can apply for the community council. The council is responsible for making decisions about the community, such as changes to the Code of Conduct, handling violations, and other important matters. The council meets regularly to discuss community issues and make decisions that benefit the community as a whole. Membership can be revoked by the council, revoking requires 60% of the council members to vote for the revoking.
